The Abertis-École des Ponts Chair is a partnership between the Abertis group and the École des Ponts ParisTech, axé sur la recherche et la formation dans le domaine de la management des infrastructures de transport. 

This chair is created to develop research and training activities in the domain, and to valorize the work of innovators in the management of infrastructures and transport services.

The École des Ponts ParisTech is a high level further education institution in France, which trains engineers with potential and future executive skills with a scientific and technical profile. 

They prepare people to overcome the challenges of today and of tomorrow. It’s a university that is open to students and researchers from all around the world, and is an institution which has a multicultural and multi-disciplinary atmosphere.

Gilles Foret

Director

Abertis Chair-ENPC France is directed by Gilles Foret, professor and researcher at École des Ponts ParisTech.

Gilles Foret specialises in Sustainability of railway and transport infrastructure, Wood-structures, Strengthening of structures, Structural bonding, non-destructive methods, structural health monitoring. Most of his research is carried out in partnership with infrastructure operators such as Sanef (motorway, bridge), Eurotunnel (tunnel, railway), and structural data solution (Osmos, Sateba). In the field of infrastructure, he is actually responsible for the supervision of 2 PhD students working on bridge monitoring projects where automation and AI are involved.

Finally, he is currently operational manager for ENPC of the EUROTUNNEL Industrial Chair (2018-2022) “Mechanics / Materials and Sustainability for Railways”.
